Bell McEntire is an emerging nonfiction writer. She is enamored by stories and likes to tell the ones she knows best.
She is a recent graduate of the MFA program at the University of Kentucky, where she wrote and defended her thesis, “In the Flesh.” The nonfiction collection of personal, reported, and lyric essays follows a journey of bodily understanding and acceptance that braids itself with the author’s life experiences, ranging from battles with mental health and physical illness, to tender and painful relationships with family, to looming acknowledgement of the body’s temporary status.
Bell has a deep passion for teaching English, with particular pedagogical interests in teaching creative writing and academic composition courses. Additionally, she is skilled and experienced in producing copy appropriate for diverse marketing purposes. Bell is originally from North Carolina and is an alumna of NC State University (BA, 2024) as well as the North Carolina School of Science and Math (2020).
Her work has appeared in publications such as The White Wall Review, The Rappahannock Review, and Carolina Muse. She is a former Editor-in-Chief and Nonfiction Editor of the New Limestone Review. Bell lives in Lexington, KY.
